Short answer
Three-class system: yes. Class 3: A Class 3 e-bike has a motor that assists only while pedaling and stops at 28 mph. Wyoming's statute sets no separate Class 3 age, helmet or path rule; the motor must cut out when you stop pedaling or brake, and the e-bike carries a class label.
| Minimum age | No statewide minimum age for any e-bike class (W.S. 31-5-707 and 31-1-101(a)(xxxiv) set none). |
|---|---|
| Helmets | No statewide helmet requirement for e-bike or bicycle riders appears in Wyoming's motor vehicle title; helmet rules there cover motorcycles and similar vehicles. |
| Bike paths | A local authority or state agency may regulate any class of e-bike on trails under its control, including nonmotorized natural-surface trails. |
| Roads | E-bike riders have the rights and duties of any vehicle driver, are not subject to licence, registration, title or insurance rules, and an e-bike is not a motor vehicle. |
| Sidewalks | Not addressed in the e-bike statute; check local rules. |
Resolves the Class 3 age-16 conflict: the current statute text has no such rule, so secondary sources that claim one are not supported. Source is the state's compiled Title 31 on wyoleg.gov; the label requirement applies from 1 Jan 2020.
