Short answer

Rad Power Bikes, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 on 15 December 2025, and the brand has had new ownership (Rad Life Mobility, part of Life EV) since 27 February 2026. Rad's warranty page says the current owner has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for products bought before 15 December 2025, and that claims on those bikes go through the bankruptcy process. For bikes bought after 15 May 2026 a new warranty applies. Rad still lists support, parts and service options, and independent shops can service many bikes.

What changed, from Rad's own pages

  • 15 December 2025: Rad Power Bikes, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Washington (Case No. 25-02183), according to Rad's warranty page.
  • 27 February 2026: the page says the brand has been under new ownership as of this date, and it is issued by Rad Life Mobility (RLM).
  • Before 15 December 2025: the warranty page says RLM "has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for Products purchased prior to December 15, 2025." It adds that claims relating to Rad-branded products bought before that date "must be submitted as part of the bankruptcy process by filing a Proof of Claim." It says RLM is reviewing upgrade policies or services and may offer some, solely at its discretion.
  • After 15 May 2026: the warranty page sets terms for products bought after that date in the USA or Canada.

The warranty page doesn't clearly say which terms apply to bikes bought between 15 December 2025 and 15 May 2026. If that is you, ask Rad's customer service in writing.

Good to know

This is a summary of Rad's published terms on the date above. It is not legal advice. If you have a claim on a bike bought before 15 December 2025, read the warranty page and the bankruptcy notices, and consider asking a qualified adviser.

Step 1: work out which situation you are in

You bought What Rad's warranty page says
Before 15 December 2025 No warranty or other service obligation for the current owner; claims go through the bankruptcy process by Proof of Claim
Between 15 December 2025 and 15 May 2026 Not clearly stated: contact Rad customer service
After 15 May 2026 Battery 300 recharge cycles or 2 years, whichever comes first; frame and listed components 2 years; pedals, drivetrain and saddle 1 year; accessories 1 year

Rad's warranty page also says it will not replace a product under the warranty without first seeing photos or video of the damaged product, that labour is covered only with approval before service, and that you pay shipping unless Rad agrees in writing to cover it. Wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads and chains are excluded.

Step 2: Rad's current support channels

Rad's support page lists:

  • Phone: 1-800-939-0310, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm Pacific. Weekend texting to the same number, 9 am to 2 pm Pacific.
  • Help Center and contact page: radpowerbikes.com/pages/support and radpowerbikes.com/pages/contact-us.
  • Parts: a "Replacement Parts for Ebikes" section, with categories such as brakes, drivetrain, tires and tubes.
  • Manuals and assembly videos from the Help Center.
  • Warranty registration at radpowerbikes.com/pages/bike-registration.

Step 3: service options

  • Rad Service Centers and partner shops. Rad's service page says it has service centers at its stores and partners with neighborhood bike shops and mobile service providers, and offers to connect you with a Rad-approved mechanic. It does not state any limits for older bikes.
  • Rad Mobile Service. The mobile page says the service is offered in select regions, depending on zip code, using the partner velofix. It says there is a minimum service charge of $90 to $129 depending on location. It does not say whether bikes bought before 15 December 2025 are covered, so ask.
  • Independent bike shops. Many shops will do mechanical work such as brakes, tires and drivetrain on any bike. Ask a shop before you book whether it works on Rad bikes and on e-bike electrics.
Stop here: contact the maker or a qualified e-bike shop

For any electrical fault, such as a battery that won't charge, an error code, or a motor, controller or wiring problem, stop. Don't open the battery, motor, controller or wiring, and don't use non-original chargers or batteries. Contact the maker or a qualified e-bike shop. See e-bike battery not charging and e-bike error codes.

Step 4: keep your bike safe in the meantime

  • Use the charger that came with the bike, as your manual says. See UL 2849 and the CPSC Micromobility Information Center for battery safety.
  • Keep records: your receipt, serial number and any emails with Rad.
  • If you want to buy a replacement battery, ask the maker or a qualified shop for the approved part rather than a third-party pack.
